SEO Audit

SEO audits: a full diagnostic before any work begins.

An SEO audit is a systematic written review across six diagnostic areas. It identifies exactly what is preventing a website from ranking, before any content, links, or optimization work begins. A remodeling company can spend six months publishing content while a crawl block on its service pages keeps Google from indexing any of it. The audit finds that block on day one.

This is a standalone report. You own it regardless of what comes next.

Remote diagnostics

How we run remote diagnostics for U.S. service businesses.

Remote SEO audits reach every U.S. market without losing diagnostic accuracy. Our team conducts every audit using read-only access to your Google Search Console, Analytics, and Google Business Profile. Standard viewer permissions are all that is required, no admin credentials, no sensitive access beyond what is needed to pull the data.

The tools that reveal crawl errors, indexation gaps, and backlink profile quality do not require physical proximity to your server. They require methodical analysis of the signals Google already tracks, and that data is available from anywhere.

Remodeling contractors, restoration companies, law firms, and dental practices share a common pattern: effort goes to visible work while the actual constraint stays buried in the technical layer. A full audit surfaces that constraint before a single dollar goes toward the wrong fix.

Founder case file

What the diagnostic found when a law firm had “no ranking movement.”

A personal injury law firm contacted us after ten months of consistent optimization work with nothing to show for it in rankings. Title tags had been updated, headers restructured, and keyword-targeted copy added across every practice area page.

I ran the diagnostic before reviewing any of that on-page work. The crawl report returned 178 pages with indexation errors. The root cause was a canonical tag misconfiguration introduced during a CMS migration: every practice area page pointed back to the homepage as the canonical URL. Google was crawling the individual pages but treating them as duplicates of the homepage rather than independent documents eligible for their own rankings. Understanding how Google crawls and indexes pages makes clear why technical SEO issues like canonical errors can silently undermine months of legitimate work.

Search Console showed stable impressions. Homepage traffic looked normal. From the outside, nothing appeared broken. The monthly reports the firm received were not inaccurate, they were measuring the wrong layer of the site.

We corrected the canonical configuration in week one. Over the following eight weeks, each practice area page began appearing as its own indexed document, and rankings emerged from content the firm had already written. No new pages required. That is the cost of skipping the diagnostic: not a slow start, but a complete misdirection of effort for nearly a year.

You'll know exactly what the report covers before we start.

Every audit deliverable is defined in writing before work begins. No findings are held back, no vague summary in place of specifics. If the audit finds a crawl error, you receive the exact URL, the exact error type, and the exact fix required.

The six areas are named upfront and the format of each finding is consistent. You receive a prioritized action matrix that ranks fixes by impact and effort, so you know which issues to address first and which can wait. If you have ever wondered how long results take after work begins, the answer almost always depends on whether the right problems were identified before any work started.

You can take that report to any developer or SEO professional and act on it immediately. That is intentional.

Our standards

Six areas, one report. Our audit standards.

Every audit covers the same six diagnostic areas, in the same depth, for every client. We pull baseline data using Google Search Console crawl and coverage data as a primary source, alongside professional crawl tooling.

  • Technical infrastructure. Crawl access, indexation status, redirect chains, Core Web Vitals, and mobile rendering.
  • On-page signal gaps. Title tag structure, header hierarchy, internal linking, and content depth by page, the same on-page optimization gaps documented with specific recommended actions.
  • Backlink profile quality. An assessment of referring domains for relevance, authority, and manipulative signals that may be suppressing rankings.
  • GBP completeness score. How many fields, categories, service items, and media assets are fully populated on your Google Business Profile.
  • Content depth review. Whether existing pages cover topics with the specificity Google's current ranking models require.
  • GEO readiness. The degree to which your structure, entity definitions, and structured data make you eligible to be cited by AI search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.

That last area, GEO readiness, is not covered by traditional audit tools. We built it into the standard report because AI search citations are a measurable traffic source now, not a future consideration.

How it works

How the audit process works.

01

Diagnostics

We begin with read-only access to Search Console and Analytics: which pages are indexed, which have errors, which receive clicks, and which terms trigger impressions, plus viewer-level GBP access for completeness. Alongside platform data we run a full site crawl that surfaces what the accounts do not show, redirect chains, broken internal links, duplicate content flags, blocked resources. Core Web Vitals scores are captured as part of the infrastructure assessment.

02

Analysis & report build

Findings are organized into the six named areas. Each includes what was found, why it matters for rankings, and a specific recommended action, tiered as address immediately, within 30 days, or when resources allow. No finding is listed without a recommendation. For clients who move forward, the findings feed directly into a keyword strategy built from audit findings.

03

Post-delivery baselines

The report includes a baseline for each area: current indexation count, crawl error count, and GBP completeness score. These let you verify improvements after fixes are implemented, regardless of who performs the work.

Coverage

Service areas we cover.

Rank First Labs delivers SEO audits to U.S. service businesses in every state. Our primary client base includes remodeling companies, restoration contractors, law firms, and dental practices operating in competitive metro markets.

The diagnostic data sources, Search Console, Analytics, Google Business Profile, and professional crawl tooling, are equally accessible for any market in the country. A single-location practice in a small town and a multi-state operator receive the same six-area depth, because the audit reads signals Google already tracks rather than anything tied to a physical location.

Market competitiveness shows up inside the findings, not in what gets audited. A backlink-profile section for a contractor in a dense metro will surface a wider authority gap against local competitors than the same section for a business in a quieter market, but both reports run the identical six-area methodology.

All work is conducted remotely, and geographic location does not affect diagnostic depth or deliverable quality. The report, baselines, and prioritized action matrix arrive the same way no matter where the business operates.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

You receive a written report covering six named areas: technical infrastructure, on-page signal gaps, backlink profile quality, GBP completeness, content depth, and GEO readiness. Each finding includes a specific recommendation and a priority tier. The report is yours to keep. No findings are withheld, and no follow-up engagement is required to access the full document.

Audit pricing is scoped to your site's size and complexity. Contact us at info@rankfirstlabs.com with your website URL for a scope confirmation and current pricing.

Turnaround depends on the size of your site and the number of pages crawled. We confirm the delivery window with you before any work begins, once we have reviewed your site.

GEO readiness is included as a standard sixth area in every audit. It covers structured data completeness, entity definitions, and content structure, the signals AI search engines use to decide whether to cite a business. Traditional audit tools do not check this dimension.

Read-only viewer access to Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and your Google Business Profile is all that is required. No admin credentials, no CMS login, and no sensitive permissions. Standard viewer access gives the team everything required to run a complete six-area diagnostic.

Every finding is ranked using an action priority matrix that sorts fixes by impact and effort. You will see clearly which issues to address immediately and which can wait. The report is a prioritized action plan, not a raw list of problems.
